Wan Kim, founder of Nuri Steakhouse, brings his origins in South Korea to his present life in Texas. The steakhouse blends Texas culture with Korean flavors. The Dallas restaurant is divided into a traditional dining room, wine room, bar, and outdoor patio, as well as a members-only bar and lounge. AvroKO translated the unique and elevated 9,500-square-foot restaurant into a design that merges art deco style with touches of cyberpunk.

Gold tones, reflective surfaces, and maximalist patterns recall the former. A plethora of fluted finishes further enhances this, including the columns topped with glowing, ribbed resin crowns. The textures used in the space are informed by traditional Korean celadon ceramics. The deco style falls alongside modern interpretations of the aesthetic. AvroKO uses curvaceous shapes and soft fabrics throughout the space to add contemporary style and a touch of warmth.

Cyberpunk references manifest through mechanical touches, like the spherical, custom-designed table lamps and pendants alongside metallic ribbing used to clad the ceiling above the bar. Custom light fixtures and artwork continue the use of sculptural metal and reflectivity while elevating the space.

In the members-only lounge, maroon, red stone, and walnut burl make a brighter departure from the darkly themed areas. For this room, AvroKO designed a chandelier with radiating brass fins that surround a glowing core dripping in beads.

At Nuri Steakhouse, every detail is an opportunity for glitz and glam. The design team thoughtfully layers contrasting styles for a unique dining experience.
